About ANGRAU
Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) was established under the name of Andhra
Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) on the 12
th of June 1964 through the APAU Act,
1963.
Later, it was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on the 7
th of
November, 1996
in honour and memory of the noted Parliamentarian and Kisan Leader, Acharya N. G. Ranga. At the
verge of
completion of the Golden Jubilee Year of ANGRAU, it has given birth to a new State Agricultural
University
namely Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University with the bifurcation of the state
of Andhra Pradesh
as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The ANGRAU at LAM, Guntur is serving the
students and the farmers
of 13 districts in the new State of Andhra Pradesh with renewed interest and dedication.
ABOUT
REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH STATION, TIRUPATI [RARS]
Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Tirupati is the headquarters of the Southern
Zone,
located in Tirupati. It was established in 1979 with a mandate to conduct research on groundnut and
groundnut-based cropping systems, soil and water management as the main functions, and on Pulses,
Watershed
management, and fodders as verification functions. Institute of Frontier Technologies of RARS,
Tirupati
with modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art lab facilities supports research in advanced
technologies
viz., Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology, Biocontrol, and Soil and Water quality
analysis.
This institute is acclaimed to have the best-functioning labs in the university as well as in
Tirupati.
Now, as a new initiative to promote Agri-innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied
sectors,
a project funded by RKVY-RAFTAAR, ANGRAU Agri Innovations and Entrepreneurship Development (AIED)
Cell was
established in June 2019.
